Hello All! You may have noticed that there is a new look for thehalogod.com! I finally finished work on the third iteration of thehalogod.com.

I’ve made it much easier for you to purchase Halo Lessons by offering Paypal links directly on this website instead of requiring you to go over to HaloBoards.com, create an account and then purchase the lessons. You can still purchase lessons from me over at HaloBoards if you set up your free account but if you want to just skip that step look in the upper right hand corner of the site to purchase the lessons there.

For those that are interested here are the first two versions of thehalogod.com:

thg v1
thg v2

Those are links from Archive.org so some of the images aren’t displaying but you can still see the transformation somewhat.

So what do you think of the new look?

I’ve been doing lessons for Halo 2 and Halo 3 for nearly a year now and have nevered raised my prices before. However, I’ve gotten to the point where I have a constant backlog of lessons so I’ve decided to raise my prices.

The new price of Halo 3 lessons:

$30 for one hour (up from $25)
$18 for a half hour (up from $15)

I didn’t raise them that much because I still want to keep them affordable for everyone. I don’t plan on raising my prices again in a while but I believe that the service I offer is worth the increase. I’ve improved the halo skills of close to 100 players now and really enjoy doing it. I was among the first group of players to obtain a level 50 and have competed on the professional level at Major League Gaming events. If you’re looking to improve your tactics, get better with weapons or anything else purchase lessons from me.

If you want to purchase Halo lessons you can do so over at the Halo Forum I run. You simply need to sign up for an account and then you can purchase the lessons at the store.

Last month I wrote a post about how I was going to donate all of the money I earned from lessons in the month of March to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and while I didn’t reach my goal of $500. It was a little slower month but I was able to raise $235 via lessons for the month of March to go towards the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

Either way, thank you again for the people that paid for lessons in March.

If you’re feeling in the giving mood you can always just donate directly via this link.

Thanks :D

You’ll see the donation shortly. I’m just trying to see if I can figure out to make the display name read “thehalogod” instead of just my real name heh heh heh.

My wife is going to be running a marathon for the Leukemia and Lymphoma society on June 1st, 2008 in San Diego for the Rock ‘N’ Roll marathon.

You can read all about it over here at her blog.

For the month of March all proceeds from the lessons I offer on this website will go towards the $4,000 she needs to raise. $3,000 of this amount will go directly to the Leukemia and Lymphoma society and the other $1,000 covers the cost of the travel and trainers that she has been working with.

My goal is to raise at least $500 this month to help out. You can order lessons from HaloBoards.com, simply click the lessons button and you can purchase them there. If you haven’t signed up for an account you’ll need to do that before you can order the lessons but after that is done I will contact you with further details.

I have been doing lessons for nearly a year and the feedback has been very positive. Please join me in helping to support the Leukemia and Lymphoma society by purchasing lessons or just by donating directly at the Team in Training page.

Again, if you want to simply donate without taking a lesson you can do so here directly at the Team in Training page. There is currently $404 donated on that page and I’d love for some people to make a donation as a result of seeing this post.

Some of you may found this easier to accomplish than me, but 20 minutes ago I broke my personal best record for Geometry Wars with 1,619,875 points and in doing so got the last two achievements I had been missing:

Survived 1,000,000 and Multitastic

I’ve been playing Geometry Wars for a little over 2 years and every couple months I would open up the game to try and Survive for 1,000,000 points and in the process get Multitastic. The very first achievement I have in this game was done on Dec 30th 2005 and now I’ve finally gotten the final two on January 28th 2008.

I’m so excited lol. I even invited one of my Halo 3 teammates into a chat to tell him about it.

Now before the haters come out and ruin my parade, I think it’s pretty tough to get those achievements and haven’t been “actively” trying to do it for two years. I just try every couple months.

If you like Xbox Live Arcade as much as I do check out XboxLiveArcade.com!

I am interested in seeing how interested people would be in seeing a video of the week series done by myself. Each video would be posted every week by me and would be one play in particular that was pretty awesome.

Who’s interested let me know by commenting on this post.

I had previously been backlogged with lessons that I needed to get through, but as of now I only have to do one more lesson before I’ll be completely caught up. I’ve received tons of great feedback about my lessons and had many satisfied students. I’ll even routinely get messages sent to me from students after they’ve had their lesson exstatic about the progress they’ve seen after having a lesson.

I enjoy offering lessons and will continue doing so, although I may increase my price of lessons in a couple months if I continue to see the high demand I’ve been getting.

Click here to check out my lessons page. I offer one hour and half hour lessons for $25 or $15 for the latter.

On a side note, I’ve begun work on my first Halo 3 montage and I want you to know it’s going to be unlike anything you’ve ever seen before. ;) more on that later though…

In case you haven’t stopped by Bungie’s site in a while, they recently gave out some details about their first DLC item for Halo 3. They wrote about it five days ago (you can see it here). The Heroic Map Pack will contain 3 maps and be available on Dec 11th for 800 Microsoft Points.

$10 for 3 maps? That still seems a little high in my opinion. I’d like to see at least one more map in there for that price. What do you guys think of the price?

Also, I heard that some of these DLC maps were already done and they didn’t ship them with the game because they wanted to sell them later. (Kinda lame, but business is business.)

Either way, besides the price and the rumors I heard that they had several other maps done I think the maps look alright. Hopefully they don’t suck like most of the ones that were available from the Halo 2 map packs.

This one looks like it’s my favorite so far:

Rat’s Nest

Rat’s Nest

But the real test of wether the maps will be good is if MLG considers using them. I just hope that people don’t start cheating on the maps like they did back during Halo 2 especially after the DLC maps were hacked all the time.

What do you all think of the new maps, prices etc?

Check out this Halo 2 montage with gameplay from THe V from Team LanFall Gaming. The video is edited by me and I actually finished it a long time ago but haven’t gotten around to posting it. I offer to edit people’s videos and you can see my rates at HaloBoards here. Overall, the quality of the video will depend on the clips you send in to me, so the better the clips and the more you send in the better video I can make.

What do you think of the video and editing?

If you want to watch it with higher quality, download the full resolution video here!

I mentioned this before, but I always knew the most difficult thing for me would be to get 600 EXP as opposed to getting level 50 in a single playlist. Well, actually I have a 50 in team slayer and double team now. Anyways, late last night I played for about 4 hours with a couple of my buddies at got to 595 EXP before my wife woke up at 4:00 AM and told me to come to bed. So, I got up this morning and finish up the 5 extra EXP and finally had the general. I can’t remember how much EXP I had when I hit 50 but needless to say I was a long way off to my general by the time I got my first 50.

Now I know I could have simply done the exp boosting long ago when I got my first 50 but I think it’s kinda stupid to EXP boost, so I just put in the time and got it legit. I highly doubt that I’ll get to the General Grade 4 for at least a year or so if not ever. I’ve just been playing a lot of matchmaking because many of the good players are still playing Halo 2 for the MLG tournies.

As soon as more stuff is announced for Halo 3 and MLG then I’ll probably be done playing matchmaking. MLG gametypes are much better anyway. Also, I’m still doing a lot of Halo 3 lessons so if you’re interested in taking some check out the lessons page.
