Untouchable is the second montage I released on the internet. I was originally going to title it Hands Off, but changed it to Untouchable at the end instead. I got a lot of great feedback from websites accross the globe and I estimate this video has been downloaded over a million times places like Halo-Pro.com, GamingVidz.com, YouTube and various other websites. I spent a lot more time gathering clips and editing this montage then I spent on Dust 2 Dust and I think it shows. I had over 40 GB of video footage that I used in the creation of this montage. I had a blast making this video nearly two years ago and I hope you enjoy watching it! People still tell me this is their favorite Halo 2 montage of all time and I’m always flattered to hear that. Here it is:

This is the very first montage I released on the internet. After making Vengeance, I decided to buy a capture card and spend more time collecting footage. The result was Dust 2 Dust. You’ll notice some of the better clips from Vengeance were also put into Dust 2 Dust because I never intended to put Vengeance on the net. (I don’t usually use old footage from past montages). Anyway, after posting this video in mlgpro’s forum nearly two years ago I got a lot of feedback and around two thousand downloads from a guy that agreed to host it. A few weeks after putting it out I started getting a lot of friend requests from people talking about how much they loved my montage. One of the people that sent me a friend request said they saw my montage on Halo-Pro.com. So I went over there and sure enough the video was on their front page. I didn’t even know it was on the site until I started getting tons of random friend requests. I talked with Matt (Phreak from Halo-Pro.com) about this later and he said he posted it because he used to go over to Stew007’s house and watch me and other Utah Noobs playing team slayer matchmaking. This was way back before the first patch, BXR’s, Double Shots, and even standby! Anyway, in my opinion this montage is much better than Vengeance and since it’s release two years ago I would estimate that it has received over half a million downloads from a variety of websites like GamingVidz.com, Halo-Pro.com, YouTube and several others.

Well, the Halo 3 Beta is finally over. I wasn’t able to play it nearly as much as I would have liked to, in fact, I just barely passed the 200 games mark. Overall though, I had a blast playing the Beta. I would have to say my favorite map of the three was High Ground. I thought that SnowBound and Valhalla were alright, but I definitely think that High Ground proved to be the most popular map among the people I spoke with. I also think that my favorite new gametype is the twist on territories where your team has to lock them down to get a point.

One other thing I thought was odd about the Beta was how easy it was to level up. I think that the reasoning behind that was to test out Bungie’s matchmaking system accross a broad group of players with different levels, and what better way to do that then make it easy for people to level up quickly. Perhaps when the final game is released it will be more difficult to level up, but when I was playing team slayer I only played a little over 50 games and made it to level 44. I’m sure if I had a little more time I would have reached 50 easily. I believe I only received a couple losses legitimately, whereas the other times we lost team slayer games were due to disconnects.

I’m also a little bummed out that they changed the emblem system and removed a few of the backgrounds that were available in Halo 2, most notably the ‘quadrants’ backgrounds. The only way to create the emblem I used all through Halo 2 is by using one of the ‘quadrants’ backgrounds, both of which were not in the beta. Because they kept in nearly every background from Halo 2 for the emblem system, it leads me to believe that the ‘quadrants’ backgrounds will not be in the final game and if that’s the case I’m not sure which emblem I’ll switch to.

In any case, I had a lot of fun playing the beta did you? What was your favorite map and gametype? Let me know by posting your comments.

This is the previously unreleased trailer to my montage Untouchable. This was made about a month after I finished Dust 2 Dust in a relatively short amount of time because I needed to turn in a video for my video editing class. I never planned on putting it on the internet because I thought the sword clip was too long and there wasn’t enough ownage footage. I also didn’t feel it had the level of energy that I was looking for. So I scraped this video and started from scratch to work on what I would later change the name to Untouchable. (Side note: If you haven’t noticed already I purposely title my videos as a reference to the song used. I’m not really sure why, but I keep on doing it.)
