Back when the Xbox 360 first came out I played PDZ for a couple weeks and captured some footage. I decided to make a montage trailer in case I ever got back to playing the game, but I never did. There weren’t enough people playing PDZ when it came out because no one could find any Xbox 360’s to purchase. So when I was off playing PDZ my entire friends list was still on Halo 2. In any case, I made this with a very little amount of footage and posted it because I didn’t want to just toss it away ;) . Does anyone even play this game anymore or did it die out long ago?

Either way, I hope you enjoy

I’m currently looking for a few more XBLA gamers that have a talent for writing. I just reopened our search for more reviewers as some of my co-staffers over at XboxLiveArcade.com haven’t been able to write reviews as frequently as I’d like them to. If you have a passion for XBLA games and a talent for writing then contact me via PM over on XboxLiveArcade.com.

What I’d require before adding someone to the staff writing position would be a well written game review of an XBLA game we don’t currently have reviewed (so we can later add it to the site). If you haven’t registered at Xbox Live Arcade yet, then go do that first :D

To read a sample review of what we’re looking for check out my Prince of Persia Classic Review.

Since I first converted this site to a WordPress blog I’ve had a lot of people subscribe to my youtube channel and if you haven’t done it yet, you should! YouTube and this blog are the first two locations that I will post my new videos at. If you subscribe to my YouTube channel, you will be notified as soon as I upload a new video.

Like the YouTube channel, you can also subscribe to my full RSS feed. For those of you that don’t know what an RSS feed is, you can read more about it here. By subscribing to my RSS feed you will be able to read my posts as soon as they’re created without having to manually type the URL to enter the site and check things out.

Obviously, subscribing to both my YouTube channel and my full RSS feed is free so do it now ;)

I currently have 68 YouTube subscribers; however, I have only 8 RSS subscribers :( and I know more than that many people read my blog, so make sure you subscribe to my RSS feed. Are my RSS numbers low because many of you don’t use RSS? Or perhaps I have to ask nicely for you to do it first ;) ?

There has been a lot of speculation about what would be announced on 7/30 and I’m pleased to announce that on our 730 day anniversary (2 years) GamingVidz.com is having a $730 video contest! $1 for every day the site has been up.

The contest is in association with HaloBoards.com, XboxLiveArcade.com and Perfection-Studios.com

I’ve been using the same computer for about 6 years! My old computer is a Dell P4 1.7 Ghz, with 768 MB of ram (2 x 128mb and 2 x 256 mb) and a GeForce 5200 (Upgraded from a previous GeForce 2 32mb card that I’d been rocking for about 5 years). With this pathetic computer, I’ve created every Halo montage you’ve been on my blog using Adobe Premiere Pro 1.5, After Effects 6.5 etc. and I still can’t believe how long it’s taken me to get a new one.

I’m really happy about the new computer as it should be coming in this week and I hope to have it all built on this weekend.

The specs on the new machine:

Intel Q6600 – Quad Core 2.4 Ghz Processor
EVGA LGA 775 Nvidia nForce 680i SLI Mobo
EVGA GeForce 8600 GTS 256MB (I just went with a mid range DX 10 card as I’m not a huge PC gamer)
Antec Performance One P180B Case
FSP Blue Storm II 500 ATX 2.2V 500W Power Supply
G.Skill 2GB (2×1 GB sticks) DDR2 800
Lite On 20X DVD Burner
500 GB SeaGate SATA HD (Will add another later when I need it)
Zalman 9700 (Air Cooling for when I later decide to overclock to 3.0 Ghz)

Total came out to about $1200 (before $100 in mail-in rebates).

Overall, I’m really pleased with the stuff I got for the price. This should last me for a while I think

I went with the quad core because it’s the best processor to help speed up video editing / encoding times. I am also am a huge multitasker, so I’m looking forward to the time when I can be simultaneously uploading a video to HaloBoards.com, rendering a video in Adobe Premiere Pro and playing some Age of Empires III.

I’ll post back with pics and more info on how it runs, but what do you think of my build?

For those of you that didn’t have the opportunity to play the Halo 3 Beta you also missed out on a new feature that allows you to save replays of your in game experiences. The beta version of this “theatre” feature was incredibly limited and only allowed the video to be played back from your perspective without the ability to pause, rewind or change to different player perspectives. So it’s easy to see how there wasn’t a whole lot of excitement about simply being able to watch yourself play the game. The excitement for me was in knowing what was to come when this full feature debuted on Halo 3 later this year.

It’s finally official. The Halo 3 film feature will change the face of Halo forever by offering a plethora of tools to improve montage making, machinima video creation, team strategy development and more. The ability to watch the replay from any player’s perspective is huge! If you plan on running some scrims against a lot of teams and find yourself always losing on one specific gametype and map, save the replay and watch how they played. You can pause the replay at any time and switch to any player or go into a free roaming camera! This feature alone will dramatically help to improve team strategy.

I don’t want to share any of my ideas for future montage creations, but suffice it to say you can expect to see some ridiculous montages released by yours truly. ;)

What do you think of the new Halo 3 saved films feature?

I made ‘Just wanna’ the mini montage / trailer at a time when I felt that all of the montages coming out were far too serious. I’d like to say that I started the “funtage” trend back before it had a name. I don’t know for sure if I was one of the first, but it wasn’t common for montages to be created just for fun. I tried to combine a few things that hadn’t been done before and a little humor. From the feedback I got, it turned out just like I hoped it would. Lots of people were caught off guard both by the song and the content in the video and I got a lot of laughs. Don’t get me wrong, I take the game seriously as well, but sometimes you just gotta have fun. Enjoy.

I have been playing Halo with iR Sephiroth (Dillon) for almost the entire time Halo 2 has been out. Along with Uncensored (Dat) and Vendetta (Carson), we went to two MLG’s together. Because we were on the same team most of the time, we rarely played against each other. The following footage in this montage has been collected from the few times that we actually played on opposite teams. I think this is a pretty funny montage and I enjoyed making it in April of 2006.

Untouchable is the second montage I released on the internet. I was originally going to title it Hands Off, but changed it to Untouchable at the end instead. I got a lot of great feedback from websites accross the globe and I estimate this video has been downloaded over a million times places like Halo-Pro.com, GamingVidz.com, YouTube and various other websites. I spent a lot more time gathering clips and editing this montage then I spent on Dust 2 Dust and I think it shows. I had over 40 GB of video footage that I used in the creation of this montage. I had a blast making this video nearly two years ago and I hope you enjoy watching it! People still tell me this is their favorite Halo 2 montage of all time and I’m always flattered to hear that. Here it is:
